When I got up this morning our world here in Nahahum Canyon was looking pretty dingy. The snow which had fallen on November 1st had for the most part melted, revealing the broken and muddy ground underneath. However, within about a half hour, a transformation took place. Large, wet snowflakes tumbled from the sky, quickly turning what had once been dead and lifeless into a winter wonderland of white.
Sometimes my soul gets looking pretty dingy too. If I’ve neglected my time with God in the morning, failed to spend time in His Word, and given in to the temptations Satan throws in my path each day, my soul becomes weighed down with guilt and despair. It’s not a pretty sight to see.
God does not leave me this way, however. I hear his voice speak to me in the early morning hours, saying, “Come now, and let us reason together.” He reminds me of His love and grace. I remember what He has done for me and I am overwhelmed. In humility I repent and confess, relying on His promise that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9.
At that moment, God works a transformation in my life, taking my sins of scarlet and turning them white as snow. I, who once was “…dead in trespasses and sin” (Ephesians 2:1) have been given new life. I have become a new person, with a new mind, a new heart, a new sense of purpose. Suddenly, my world seems brighter, filled with light and hope. I am redeemed!
Today, God stands ready and waiting to work this transformation in your life too. It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, how heavy the burden of guilt you bear, because He has promised, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be white as snow; Though they are red like crimson they shall be as wool.”
Come to Jesus right now, just as you are, and let Him transform your life into something beautiful and amazing. Let Him take your broken, guilty life and cover it with the beautiful robe of Christ’s righteousness. Let Him give you a new life, one filled with purpose, joy, and hope for tomorrow. Then go and celebrate! It’s going to be a beautiful day!
